BluArchive

A free macOS application for preparing and burning Blu-ray and BDXL archives. BluArchive combines the native tar, hdiutil, shasum and drutil commands with optional PAR2 recovery data in a single interface. It supplies the archival workflow missing from the Windows-oriented software included with writers such as the Asus BW-16D1X-U.

BluArchive burn, verify, and run backup controls
Burn, verify, and the full step list from preflight through complete.

What it runs

TAR (recommended) → PAR2 redundancy → SHA256 manifest → UDF/ISO via hdiutil makehybrid → optional burn → optional verify.

Requirements

  • macOS 13 or later
  • A macOS-compatible Blu-ray / BDXL writer for physical discs
  • par2 if you enable redundancy: brew install par2
  • Staging space sufficient for the source data and processing overhead

Unzip the download, then right-click → Open the first time if Gatekeeper prompts. Pick a source folder, a staging folder, a media profile, and whether to burn. Deep verify runs hdiutil verify on the ISO and re-checks the TAR checksum when TAR-first is on.
